Petit-Lac-des-Sables Nature Reserve

Nature is our heritage.

The Petit-Lac-des-Sables nature reserve is located in the Town of Sainte-Agathe-des-Monts in the Laurentians regional county municipality (RCM) in the Laurentides region. The Property is part of the Southern Laurentian Natural Province which is nestled in the Massif du Mont Tremblant natural region. The lots make up part of the Buttes du Lac Masson physiographic unit and are located in the topographic unit of Basses Collines du Lac-de-la-Borne and the ecological district of Basses Collines de Saint-Adolphe-d’Howard.

Protected area

Under the guidelines drafted by the International Union for Conservation of Nature in 2008, a protected area is a clearly defined geographical space, recognized, dedicated, and managed, through legal or other effective means, to achieve the long-term conservation of nature with associated ecosystem services and cultural values. The Owner hereby agrees to recognize its Property as a nature reserve in accordance with the provisions of the Act. In this regard, the Owner undertakes to manage the Property while respecting the conservation objectives and measures in addition to the management conditions outlined below.

Conservation objectives

The parties wish to ensure that the Property’s natural characteristics are maintained so as to justify its recognition as a nature reserve. 

In this regard, the Owner undertakes to respect the following conservation objectives:

Unless otherwise authorized by sections 10, 11, 12, 13 or 18, the Owner undertakes to not conduct or authorize and to take reasonable measures to make it clear that the following activities are not tolerated on the Property:

Recognition of Petit-Lac-des-Sables nature reserve

Under section 60 of the Natural Heritage Conservation Act (chapter C-61.01), notice is hereby given that the Ministre de l’Environnement, de la Lutte contre les changements climatiques, de la Faune et des Parcs (Minister of the Environment, the Fight against Climate Change, Wildlife and Parks) has recognized as a nature reserve a Property located on the territory of the Town of Sainte-Agathe-des-Monts within the Laurentians RCM which is known and designated as part of lots 5 910 357 and 5 910 359 as well as lots 5 910 367 and 5 910 371 in the Terrebonne registration division of the Quebec public registry.
The surface area of this Property totals 63.41 hectares.

The perpetual recognition of this nature reserve takes effect on the publication date of this notice in the Gazette officielle du Québec.
